The society has had a lot of up and downs in his existing time. A lot has happened through the years. Sometimes Judoclub Brunssum meant something for the Dutch-judo-history.

  The prehistoric

Participations at a lot of contests (and a lot of prices!)

1985-88 Membership again to lowest point: 30 members. Change over to the BZN (Alliance South Holland). The mentality is very different, a difficult time follows. The members-bring-in has effect, but only for a short time.

  The big change
1989 A new comittee with new ideas gives the society 'a new life'. Judoclub Brunssum back by the JBN. Again there is participation in contests.
1990 Wiel Arnouts leaves de society, lessons are taken over by Hub Errens jr. (of Hei Sei Do Klimmen). Harry Scheen takes a part of the lessons. A few time later Henri v.d. Goot takes over these lessons. First contacts with judoclub Hei Sei Do Klimmen have been made. In November appears the first number of the club-paper of JC Brunssum, (than the format was A5). 2002

Because teachers take courses or leave for some period, at the beginning of 2002 there is a shortage of teachers. So groups are combined and volunteers take care of this shortage. At the end of the season 2001/2002 Raimond Franssen and Jon Kroes pass their exam for judo teacher B and junior judo teacher. And after this, they are available as teachers again.
In 2001 the incomes increase by sponsors. With these incomes a digital camera and a Japanese gong are bought. At the end of the season a start for member passports is made. With this, we hope to make much advantage for members. At the beginning of the season 2002/2003 sponsored body warmers for the contest group were bought. With these, our judokas can show themselves at tournaments. In the season 2002/2003 the successful activity “the Samurai of Brunssum”, for the youth of Brunssum, is organized. About 60 children took part in the activity.

  The recession
2003

Unless the economic recession, it went relatively well with the club. This year we start a closer cooperation with ‘sportschool Eddy van de Pol”. The first activity was a training in Helmond. There is a closer cooperation too, with the Judoclub Zarai in Wahlwiller. Some of our judokas train there weekly. Peter Scheen and Harrie Scheen got their 2nd dan in May and December.
In stead of the traditional season ending (swimming), this year was chosen for a quest with including a barbeque. It was a great success. That was shown by the many members and their positive reactions. This year there was again a judo camp. And of course it was very nice. The camp’s theme was shudder. In December a new version of the Judoclub Brunssum website was made. Many parents take part at the activity ‘parents on the mat’.
The membership reduced from 120 to 114. For the first time jubilees were paid homage. 12 ½ years at Judoclub Brunssum: Guus Boersma, Jon Kroes, Peter Lem, André Matthies, Marc Matthies, Melanie Franssen, Bertien Franssen, Sjef Franssen, Raimond Franssen, Walter Smith, Jon Kroes en Roy Stevens.
25 years at JC Brunssum: Peter Scheen en Harrie Scheen.

2004

This year (in Januari), Holland’s champion Judith Jaeqx gave a judo training at Judoclub Brunssum. The new made website was acitivated this year. The Commission Internet made forums for specific groups: the different cadres and commissions.
By the good will of many volunteers of the club, Judoclub Brunssum helped much at the Folkloriade Festival in Brunssum. Besides that, some volunteers also carry out other tasks. Especially attention for the leading role of Marij Lem.
This year Raimond Franssen stopped as arbiter and we got three new ones: Marcel and Xander – Bolk, and Richard Korychi. The cadre (managing and technical), went to several meetings (for the promotion of the quality), as workshops and placements.
